Practical, easy tips parents can use every day to help their child’s learning.
You don’t need flashcards, a study timetable, or a home tutor to help your child do better at school. Most of it comes down to small habits, repeated often enough that they stop feeling like effort.
- Keep a routine. A regular time each day for reading or homework means less negotiating and fewer battles.
- Read together, even just ten minutes. It doesn’t matter who’s reading to who, it all counts.
- Swap “did you have a good day” for something like “what’s the most interesting thing that happened today”. You’ll get a real answer instead of a shrug.
- Praise the effort, not just the grade. Kids who feel their hard work is noticed tend to keep trying, even when things get harder.
- Stay a little bit involved in what they’re learning in class, whether that’s through us or school, so you can casually reinforce it at home.
None of this needs extra time you don’t have. It’s really just about consistency, and it adds up more than people expect.
